About
A shop for the wet side of the room.
Contrast Goods stocks darkroom and film photography supplies — the chemistry, paper, enlarging gear and light control that a working darkroom actually goes through.
What we are
We are a small catalogue, deliberately. Six departments, and inside each one a short list of things we would put on our own bench. We would rather stock one developer that holds the shadows open than nine that all do the same thing.
The catalogue is weighted toward consumables, because that is what runs out. Paper in working quantities, chemistry in the sizes a session actually uses, and the small hardware that quietly decides whether a print is good — tongs that do not score an emulsion, a safelight that is genuinely safe for variable contrast paper, a wedge that was read on a densitometer rather than printed to a nominal value.
How we ship
Paper ships flat, in its own light-tight bag inside a rigid carton. It is never rolled and never sent in a poly mailer. Chemistry ships ground only, upright, in sealed secondary containment, and we do not combine it with paper in the same carton.
Orders placed before 2pm Central on a business day leave the same day. Everything is picked and packed in Grandview, Missouri.
We sell the boring half of photography, and the boring half is the half that decides how the print looks.
